Here we go!

So this is it. The start of something potentially wonderful! Unless I get bored in the next 4 and a half minutes

So here I am. Lying in bed with my laptop on my lap, my mouse sitting on the bedside table next to me propped up on a box. The room is dark, my little portable AC is roaring (QLD Summer is a bit warm). and an overly bright glow from my screen as dim as I can make it with as little effort required as possible. It's 9:46 pm, Wednesday the 31st of January 2024 and I have spent the last - what feels like weeks (Actually about 2 hours) getting a domain, an email address and fumbling my way around WIX website creator trying to make things do stuff.

I have been umming and ahhhing for the past couple weeks about starting this but just never taking that first step. It's a daunting process. I have an idea in my head, a layout, the structure all laid out, then actually setting it all up is ALOT!

I started with "I'm going to do every thing right now!". I added pages here with nothing, and pages there with even less, filled with what ever 'Sample' text/pages WIX throws at you and it was all overwhelming. How do you start something when you have no idea what you're doing? So I scrapped all the extra pages I had set up and I'm starting here. A home page, a blog page, and this here first bit of writings to vent my frustrations.

But what is this for?!!

Now that I've got that out of the way, What's this actually for?

I work in the film industry. mostly in Offset Lighting (Rigging Electrics) and more recently Onset lighting and Grips and I always have so many questions about things that go on, "Whats this for? And that? Why? What the hell is an Onkybonk?!"

A lot of my questions have been answered but I wanted to make a space for 2 things.

1: I can write/blog about the things I have and continue to learn to help reinforce my understanding of it all.

2: Hopefully I will get enough information on here for newcomers to the film industry it will be a place to find answers to some of the questions I have asked for an easy source of information.
